Interesting facts about the king of the Africa’s jungle, Lion

The fun expedition called African Safari has lot of surprises in store for you. But the obvious adventure is to witness the wildest beast and other animals. The Lion is the most sought after animal in African Safari especially among young children. The encounter with this beast is thrilling. We have gathered some interesting fact regarding this second largest feline.

The lion weighs approximately 250 kg and needs 10-12 big animals to feed on in the entire year. It eats about 25% of its body weight in one day and can even go without eating for 3-4 days. Have you ever thought that how will African safari be without the lion? This member of the cat family is one among endangered species, and measures are taken worldwide to increase them in numbers.

The lion is the unusual sociable as compared to the other cats however does not hunt in groups. The African lion hunt during night or dawn or early evening. It takes the benefit of poor lighting conditions when the prey is not able to see well. 20 hours of the day passes in just taking rest. Lion’s roar can be heard even 5 miles away and roaring is believed to serve the function to locate other family members. It can reach of speed 59 km/hr but for short distance. The best place to spot African lion is southern Africa
