The lion weighs approximately 250 kg and needs 10-12 big animals to feed on in the entire year. It eats about 25% of its body weight in one day and can even go without eating for 3-4 days. The lion is the unusual sociable as compared to the other cats however does not hunt in groups. The African lion hunt during night or dawn or early evening. Lion’s roar can be heard even 5 miles away and roaring is believed to serve the function to locate other family members. It can reach of speed 59 km/hr but for short distance.
